Welcome to the Foundation of Medical Knowledge
The Department of Anatomy at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) is situated on the scenic Bugando Hill in Mwanza, Tanzania. Established to provide exceptional foundation training in the medical sciences, we teach human structure and development to future physicians, nurses, pharmacists, and medical scientists.
Our Educational Philosophy
We believe that hands-on cadaveric dissection is irreplaceable in medical training. It teaches not only spatial relations, anatomical variation, and tactile appreciation of tissues, but also respect, teamwork, and the ethical foundations of medical practice. Our teaching is supported by modern computer-aided learning, plastic anatomical models, and microscopic laboratory sessions.
Academic Programs Offered
We deliver comprehensive modules across several undergraduate and postgraduate programs:
- Doctor of Medicine (MD): Core modules in Gross Anatomy, Embryology, Histology, and Neuroanatomy.
