National service training at Ruvu and Mgulani National Service camps respectively. MScPharmacy at the Institute of Medicine and Pharmacy, Cluj-Napoca, Romania. PhD studies at the University of Sunderland, UK.
Prof. Sheila Mgole Maregesi
Associate Professor of Pharmacognosy
Sheila M. Maregesi is an Associate Professor in Pharmacognosy, a former employee of Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences and currently a full time employee at CUHAS, She is a holder of Bsc. (Chemistry& Botany) from the University of Dar es Salaam, Master in Pharmaceutical Sciences (Pharmacognosy) from Gent University and a PhD in Pharmacognosy from the Antwerp University where she conducted a research on “Ethnobotanical, Phytochemical and Biological investigation on plants used in Tanzania”. She has adequate expertise on documentation of useful medicinal and edible plants, isolation and identification of natural bioactive compounds. Her strong interest on natural products is un-waved hence continuing to conduct ethnomedical surveys on useful natural sources, establishing the claims of their therapeutical / nutritional values or both and establishing the safety profiles.
Mr. RAPHAEL MATINDE

Raphael Matinde is a registered pharmacist and an Assistant Lecturer of medicinal chemistry at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. He holds a Master of Science in Medicinal Chemistry degree from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences and a Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences. MR. Matinde is actively involved in research and has several publications. He is interested in Computational Chemistry and Methods Development for Pharmaceutical analysis using Chemometric Models.
Ms. Adelina Thomas

Adelina Thomas is a registered pharmacist with a strong academic and research background in pharmacognosy and natural medicine. She earned her Bachelor of Pharmacy degree in 2016 from the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) and completed her internship at Bugando Medical Centre (BMC) in 2017. She went on to pursue a Master’s degree in Pharmacognosy and Natural Medicine at Mbarara University of Science and Technology in Uganda. Her research interests focus on the antimicrobial properties of medicinal plants, the toxicity profiles of herbal medicines, and the development of natural insecticides targeting vector-borne diseases. Adelina is passionate about exploring the therapeutic potential of natural products and contributing to evidence-based integration of herbal medicine into healthcare.
Mr. Tanga Yango Mafuru

Tanga Yango Mafuru is a registered pharmacist and an Assistant Lecturer in the Department of Medicinal Chemistry and Pharmacognosy at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS-Bugando). He completed his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree (2014-2018) at CUHAS in Mwanza, Tanzania. Tanga joined CUHAS in February 2020 as a Tutorial Assistant. Prior to his appointment at CUHAS, he conducted an internship at the Pharmacy Council of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam in 2019 after completing his pharmacy degree. He then pursued a Master’s degree in Medicinal Chemistry at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. Tanga is committed to contributing to CUHAS's vision, driven by his passion for teaching and research.

Ms.Tekla Masanja Joseph is a botanist specializing in Medicinal plants and their applications in traditional medicine. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Botanical Sciences from the University of Dar es Salaam,where she developed a strong foundation in plant Biology, Taxonomy, and ecological important of flora in Tanzania.Also Msc.in Traditional medicine development at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences. Currently, Ms.Tekla works at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS),in the Department of Medicinal chemistry and Pharmacognosy as a Botanist.

Ms Brigitha Genes is versatile leader and a pharmacist by profession, adept at leveraging her academic background and a strong interest in medicinal plants and natural product sciences in community health development to contribute to effective community health projects. With a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy from the Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS), her educational foundation is complemented by a unique blend of quick learning skills, and a strong work ethic, making her well suited in fast paced environments. Currently she works at the Catholic University of Health and Allied Sciences (CUHAS) as a tutorial assistant impacting the future young pharmacists to bridge the gap between theoretical pharmacognosy and its clinical relevance. Alongside academic support activities, she maintains a keen research interest and commitment to making a positive impact on the community health development in transforming the traditional medicinal knowledge into scientifically validated herbal formulations.
